Below are a few examples of fair trade projects that Jeremy is involved with.
Mitra Bali, Indonesia
 |
Mitra Bali is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation in Bali, Indonesia, and like SHARED EARTH, a member of the International Federation for Fair Trade (IFAT).
Its founder Agung Alit started working with Pekerti, a fair trade exporter in Java in 1991. Then in 1993 SHARED EARTH's buyer visited him and encouraged him to set up on his own, SHARED EARTH placed an order and The Mitra Bali Foundation was formed.
For many of their wooden products, Mitra Bali use Albesia, a soft wood which grows to maturity in 7-10 years. They have started a scheme whereby landowners receive assistance in return for allowing the trees to be grown on their land. Several trees have been planted on behalf of SHARED EARTH, using profits from our purchases.

Karm Marg Orphanage, New Delhi, India
 |
 |
The Karm Marg orphanage was established in 1997 to give a home and support to the street children of New Delhi. Now run by the older children and their peers, the orphanage gives refuge to many children that otherwise would be begging, working or selling their bodies on the street to get enough money to survive.
The Karm Marg project is funded by a combination of SHARED EARTH and other suppliers within fair trade to help give disadvantaged children a good start in life. The children's education includes learning English and children from 15 years or older learn skills in the Karm Marg onsite workshops which give them skills to use in future careers.

Creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers 2. Transparency and accountability 3. Capacity building 4. Promoting fair trade 5. Gender equity 6. Ideal working conditions 7.
